AFIS

Aerodrome Flight Information Service — an information service at uncontrolled aerodromes. Provides traffic, weather and runway information but never issues control clearances.

AFIS (Aerodrome Flight Information Service) is provided by an aerodrome dispatcher at uncontrolled airfields. Unlike ATC it does not issue taxi, take-off or landing clearances — it only informs pilots about known traffic, weather, runway condition and recommended procedures. Responsibility for safe separation and every decision stays with the pilot in command. In the Czech Republic AFIS operates for example at Hradec Králové (LKHK), Kunovice and Roudnice.
