Permit to Fly
A temporary authorisation to fly an aircraft that does not have a valid Certificate of Airworthiness — for post-maintenance test flights, ferry flights to maintenance or experimental operations. Issued by the CAA / EASA.
A Permit to Fly is issued under Annex I to Regulation (EU) 748/2012, Subpart P. It is granted for a specific purpose — a ferry flight to a maintenance organisation, a post-repair test flight, operations without an active EASA CofA, or developmental flights. The flight conditions (crew, route, weather, MTOM) are approved by EASA. Without a Permit to Fly an aircraft without a valid Certificate of Airworthiness must not leave the ground.
