Gyrocopter
A rotorcraft whose rotor turns freely from the airflow (autorotation) throughout the flight. Thrust is provided by a separate propeller.
A gyrocopter (autogyro) differs from a helicopter in that its rotor is not driven by the engine — it is turned only by air flowing up through the disc. A separate propeller provides forward thrust. A gyrocopter therefore cannot hover, but on the other hand it cannot spin and an autorotational landing is its normal mode of operation. In the Czech Republic gyrocopters (most commonly the AutoGyro MTOsport or Cavalon) are flown under the LAA ultralight category.
