Type rating — Guimbal Cabri G2

Conversion to the most modern two-seat helicopter in its class

The Guimbal Cabri G2 type rating is for pilots who already hold a PPL(H) or CPL(H) on another type (typically R22, R44, Schweizer 300) and want to fly the Cabri G2. As the exclusive Hélicoptères Guimbal dealer in the Czech Republic, we have the most experienced instructors on this aircraft in the region.

Price and fair billing

Type rating cost consists of flight hours (again per minute) and TRI type instructor time. We'll prepare a specific quote based on your current licence and the type you're transitioning from.

During a full training course, the difference between per-minute and 6-minute billing adds up to tens of thousands of crowns. With us, you only pay for actual flight time.

Frequently asked

Why is the Cabri G2 so different from the R22?

The Cabri has higher main rotor inertia (safer autorotation), a fenestron instead of a conventional tail rotor (different pedal control), and modern composite construction. Handling is smoother and the machine is more forgiving — but you have to approach it differently to a Robinson.

Do I have to redo all theory?

No. Theoretical training covers only Cabri G2 specifics. Your general knowledge of aerodynamics, meteorology and regulations remains valid.

Will I get a 'Cabri licence'?

The Cabri G2 falls into the same class as other single-engine piston helicopters (SEP-H). Formally you'll get an entry in your licence authorising you to fly this specific type. The operational benefit is mainly safety and lower cost per hour.

Can I rent the Cabri from you afterwards?

Yes — after finishing the type rating we rent Cabri G2 to you at our standard per-minute rates, or we can arrange a regular rental agreement.
