Nikola's first solo flight

Today, one of those moments that give our work true meaning took place at our base. Our student Nikola successfully completed his first solo flight in the Guimbal Cabri G2 helicopter—a milestone that is never forgotten.
The first solo is not just a technical step in training. It is the moment when a student becomes a pilot. When the instructor steps out of the cabin and leaves the student alone to face the sky, the decisions and the responsibility. Nikola handled this moment with calm, focus and respect for flying—qualities that are absolutely essential for a future professional career.
His path has a clear goal. Nikola wants to become a HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) pilot—one of the most demanding but also most needed professions. Every day these pilots help save human lives in situations where minutes matter. There has been a long-term shortage of qualified pilots in this segment, which is why Nikola has both a great challenge and a meaningful mission ahead of him.
At LION Helicopters s.r.o. we are proud to be part of this journey. Training on the modern Guimbal Cabri G2 helicopters emphasises not only precise piloting, but also the right habits, safety and decision-making in real situations. These are exactly the skills that form the foundation for future professional careers—whether in commercial flying or in demanding rescue operations.
Nikola took a big step today. There is still a long road ahead of him, full of study, training and experience. But his first solo flight showed that he is on the right one.
Congratulations on this important milestone and we look forward to many more flights together. 🚁
