From the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering via fixed-wing aircraft to helicopters.

Here is another report, this time about our student Zdeněk, who completed his first solo flights in recent weeks.

Zdeněk is certainly no newcomer to the world of engineering. As a graduate of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Brno University of Technology, he has a strong affinity with mechanics, physics and aerodynamics. He also puts his technical expertise into practice every day – he currently works as a test engineer at GE Aerospace, where he is involved in the development and testing of aircraft engines.

Flying had always appealed to him, and he gained his first experience in the air at the controls of conventional fixed-wing aircraft. The real turning point came when he flew in a helicopter for the first time. From that moment, the decision was made – he was immediately captivated by helicopters and knew straight away that this was exactly the kind of flying he wanted to pursue fully.

During his first solo flights, Zdeněk clearly showed that he is right where he belongs in the air. He performed every manoeuvre with assured confidence and handled the helicopter calmly and skilfully, exactly as he had practised in his previous lessons. From the outset, Zdeněk's whole approach has also demonstrated tremendous enthusiasm, and it is perfectly clear that flying is far more than just a hobby for him.

Although the first solo is one of the most emotional milestones and a clear confirmation of a pilot's skills, the story is far from over. For Zdeněk, it is more a confirmation that he has chosen the right path. He now has a clear goal ahead of him: successfully completing his private helicopter pilot licence (PPL(H)). However, we already know that he will not stop there. Zdeněk is highly motivated and, once he has gained his licence, he would like to continue with further training to take his flying skills to the next level.

The whole team would like to congratulate Zdeněk on this fantastic achievement! It was an excellent performance, and we are already looking forward to supporting him on the next stage of his journey.
