CPL(H) - At work with your head in the clouds

CPL(H) - At work with your head in the clouds

We will teach you how to fly to large controlled airports in the Czech Republic, abroad and, of course, how to handle various emergency situations. After getting the commercial pilot licence, you will be entitled to act as a helicopter commander (PIC) in single-pilot commercial air transport operations or fly as a co-pilot of a multi-pilot helicopter crew in commercial air transport, including aerial operations.

In other words, once you get your CPL(H), you become a professional pilot! From now on, you can start applying for interesting jobs in the aviation industry and fly so-called "for pay", for example as a rescue or police helicopter pilot, a construction and assembly pilot, or a passenger transport pilot.
The CPL(H) qualification offers these and other opportunities.

Training summary

  • Entry requierements
  • Theoretical training
  • Practical training
  • minimum age of 18 years,
  • the applicant must hold a PPL(H) before commencing training,
  • hold a Class 1 medical certificate
  • have flown at least 155 hours as a helicopter pilot, of which at least 50 hours as PIC,
  • a valid Air Navigation Service Radiotelephone Operator's Licence.

Theoretical knowledge is delivered in a minimum of 250 hours. Of which:

  • 210 hours of self-study from the materials provided
  • 40 hours in the form of lectures in the classroom

If necessary, it is possible to arrange consultation hours with the instructor beyond the theoretical training.

The study as such is primarily divided into thirteen courses:

  • Aviation Law,
  • Airframes, Systems, Electronics, Powerplants,
  • Instruments,
  • Weight and Balance,
  • Performance,
  • Flight Planning and Execution,
  • Human Performance and Limitations,
  • Meteorology,
  • General Navigation,
  • Radio navigation,
  • Operating Procedures,
  • Fundamentals of Flight,
  • VFR Communications.

All students are advised to allocate enough time for the actual study of theoretical knowledge, on average 8 months.
The Civil Aviation Authority allows applicants to take the theoretical knowledge test in English only.

Practical training consists of 30 flight hours + 5 hours of night flying unless the applicant is already qualified for night flying.

The subject of commercial pilot flight training is not only about the improvement of piloting skills such as emergency procedures, instrument flights, low altitude operations, or navigation flights.

Our instructors will always aim to prepare you, as a future professional pilot, for all possible standard and non-standard situations that may occur during your career.  Therefore, during your training, you will be simulated real-life situations, which will certainly improve your decision-making or your handling of uncomfortable situations.

Examples include flying in reduced visibility or gusty winds, the principles of selecting the appropriate terrain to make safe landings, or acquiring knowledge of arrival and departure procedures for flights to large or foreign airports.

The price per flight hour includes a fully hull-insured helicopter, operating charges for the flight (in the case of refueling at airports other than the home airport, the price difference is calculated), rental of Bose A20 headphones with active noise cancellation, iPad with preinstalled sw (SkyDemon, AeroWeather, Windy, ...), maps, etc.

The flight hour begins to run at the moment when the rotor of the helicopter spins to the moment of its stopping. We bill exactly, by the minute.

For individual flights on our helicopters, we require pilots to take out deductible insurance.

There are no hidden fees waiting for you, everything is straight forward.

Why do we fly on Cabri G2?

Forgiving of pilot errors

The training helicopter must be able to withstand non-standard situations and continue flying safely. That's exactly what the Cabri G2 is.

Ergonomic modern cockpit

The Cabri G2 fits every pilot's hand thanks to the well-thought-out arrangement of controls and the layout of instruments that effectively display the most important data.

High reliability

The helicopter is designed using modern technologies with a fail-safe principle. In short, you can rely on him.

Proč práve Cabri G2?

Resistant to strong wind and turbulence

The three-bladed main rotor copes very well even in bad weather and there is no danger that the blade will cut into the helicopter's fuselage in flight.

Long range and pleasant cruising speed

With Cabri, you can plan even longer navigation flights without the need for refueling and you won't be delayed anywhere.

Little big helicopter

Training on the Cabri G2 prepares you very well, thanks to the similarity of piloting, for flying with machines of a higher category.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I fly any helicopter after the course?
  • What is the interest in pilots from your school?

Can I fly any helicopter after the course?

Together with the private pilot's licence, you will also receive a type rating for the helicopter on which the training was carried out. For each additional helicopter, you need special retraining where you will learn the specifics of the type.

What is the interest in pilots from your school?

Our pilots are very well rated by other operators in general. We make sure that our students are well trained both theoretically and practically. With modern Cabri G2 helicopters, graduates are accustomed to the behaviour of larger helicopters and modern avionics.

Membership of the respected LHA opens up opportunities for graduates to be placed with other companies within the association, or to undertake training that we do not offer ourselves.
